It started out as it often does with “I don’t really care”
The whispers turn straight into screams, as we argue what ain’t fair
The truth it seems was hid by lies that boiled up inside
You scream and shout and I stand still, why did I never try?

I should have been a better man; I could’ve had a better plan
I would of done much more now all I have is gone
I should have seen the warning signs, took time to read between the lines
Shoulda coulda woulda played it different but now it’s just too late

My bags are packed, your friends arrive, I load up all my things
You wipe the tears from your face as I hand back keys and rings
As I drive off, I look back and see you close the door
This part of my life is over now but I’m left still wanting more
